Finding a Trusted Dentist in San Juan del Sur, Nicaragua
Whether you live in San Juan del Sur, are visiting for the surf, or planning a longer stay, here is how to find reliable dental care right on the beach.
By Dra. Cora Baltodano · September 22, 2026
San Juan del Sur is one of the most loved beach towns on Nicaragua's Pacific coast. Surfers, expats, families and travellers all pass through, and sooner or later many of them ask the same question: where can I find a dentist I can trust here?
This guide explains what to look for and how SunCare Dental, the San Juan del Sur clinic of Dra. Cora Baltodano, can help.
Why local dental care matters in a beach town
A cracked tooth from a surf board, a lost filling during a long trip, or a child's toothache can turn a holiday into a stressful week. Having a dental clinic close by means you can:
- Get emergency pain relief without travelling to a bigger city
- Keep up with regular cleanings and check-ups if you live in the area
- Plan larger treatments (implants, orthodontics, crowns) with a dentist you can visit in person
Meet SunCare Dental San Juan del Sur
SunCare Dental is located right on the beach, across from Josseline's Restaurante. The clinic is led by Dra. Cora Baltodano, DDS, an orthodontics specialist trained in Monterrey, México, who also sees patients in Managua.

What to look for in any dentist abroad
- Clear communication. You should understand your diagnosis and options before any treatment starts.
- A written treatment plan. Ask what each step involves and how long it takes.
- Modern techniques. Digital planning and up-to-date materials make treatment more predictable.
- Follow-up care. Make sure you know how check-ups will work if you are travelling.
